Wednesday, 09 September 2009
City Gateway look to connect with disadvantaged young people and women in Tower Hamlets and run programmes to help provide them with the skills and opportunities needed to access further education, training and work . They run women’s projects, youth training, a youth centre and a social enterprise hub - offering disadvantaged individuals everything from community events and drop-in youth clubs through to apprenticeship schemes and the chance to develop their own business ideas.Tourettes Action help people with Tourettes Syndrome (TS) to receive the practical support and the social acceptance they need to help them live their lives to the full. They deal with all forms of TS, including the most challenging. TS is an inherited neurological condition. It affects one schoolchild in every hundred and more than 300,000 children and adults in the UK. The key feature is tics, involuntary and uncontrollable sounds and movements. In severe cases these tics prevent access to education, work and normal social interaction.
Nigel Bromley, Gemserv’s Chief Executive said:
“We are committed to playing a useful part in society and it is a reason why people like to work at Gemserv. We already enjoy working with City Gateway and look forward to finding ways to help Tourettes Action. I am excited to see how the skills and enthusiasm of our staff can help these charities and their users and I know from experience that we will learn a lot ourselves from working with them. We are passionate about our impact on others and also the company’s impact on the environment. We carry out and support fundraising for a number of charities but providing more direct support with City Gateway and Tourettes Action will focus our efforts to make a real difference to them and the lives of the people they support .”
Gemserv would like to thank the City Action for providing invaluable support in partnering with these charities.
